I am a Political Science PhD Candidate at the University of Notre Dame. My research is focused on the mechanics of global hegemony, specifically hegemonic ordering and disordering processes in international relations. My scholarship is broadly informed by theories of international order, hegemonic stability, power transition, hierarchy and alliance politics. I conceptualize American hegemony as an asymmetric security relationship that constrains but does not eliminate client-state agency and investigate how resistance emerges, particularly in East Asia, and complicates the hegemon’s ability to preserve global order outcomes.
